My fight against vivisection

The scandal of animal suffering
When you are lucky enough to live in a dream world,  thanks to music, the temptation is great to stay inside a glass case, so as not to see the horrors which surround us.
In spite of that, I have chosen not to lock myself up inside a prism, but to act in favour of a cause which seems particularly monstrous – I could have chosen several other good causes and unfortunately there is no lack. Generally speaking, the suffering of defenceless beings, such as children, makes me feel revolted more than anything else in the world.
But a choice had to be made, with all the responsibilities that this entails.

So I chose to fight vivisection.
The truth of what goes on was brought home to me by a French magazine called the ‘NEW OBSERVER’ which had the courage to feature this theme in its cover story in November 1999.
It might be added that the press carefully avoids this subject…which is why most people ignore what really happens in research laboratories.
A lot of scientists, who were shocked by what they had seen, explained that even if animal experiments had been necessary in past years for testing invaluable drugs, these can be avoided nowadays by using alternative methods which work perfectly.

Yet, never before have animals been tortured on such a large scale and with such a total absence of guilt.
The hidden reason is the one which guides most of our society : money! It costs less to experiment on live animals.
You’ll find plenty of sites on the subject
I’ve chosen a few which seem to me important if you wish to see, understand and act. You need to be brave : some of the scenes will stay in your memory and give you nightmares…but would you rather hide your head in the sand ?

Extremely complete site of the NATIONAL ANTIVIVISECTION SOCIETY – read the scientists’ arguments explaining the uselessness of experiments; also, how to make yourself useful, what products to boycott, where the law stands, etc.

This site proposes only photos taken inside laboratories : unbearable, but useful if you wish to know what you are talking about
